Hi all! About 4 weeks ago I planted a 6 foot Bloodgood Maple sourced from a local well regarded nursery. I am now noticing white spotting on the leaves and on those white spotted leaves there is some crisping of the leaf edges. Please see photos. The location is full/partial shade. Suburbs of NYC area. We've had no rain in the last 3 weeks. I have been deep watering every other day. I could use some advice on likely issue and recommendations on solution. Thanks!
Hi, welcome to the forum. I guess you're just over watering, I'd cut to evert 4-5 days. Even in that NY summer heat, since it's mostly shaded. Maples don't usually look perfect for a couple of years (at least) after planting. Cheers, -E P.S. you could show a pic of the area where the trunk goes into the ground, that's where most issues happen, but I don't see much to worry about from the pics. Make sure the mulch isn't up against the trunk.
Also, looks like water was sprayed on the leaves while the sun was out. The water drops act like a magnifying glass and will give you the white spots with holes due to burns. Only water the ground surface around the trunk. If you want to water the leaves, do so in the evening after sunset so they can dry off before the morning sunrise. And the watering on the leaves could have been done at the nursery prior to your purchase. Usually takes 3 -4 days to see the effects.
