I have just noticed new shoots on my Bambusa Lako "Timor Black Bamoo" seem to have a bit of a pattern. I bought the plant when it was about a year old. It had 3 old shoots on it of various sizes. Then I seen a new shoot up. After a while I then seen 2 new shoots come up at the same time. Later on I noticed 3 new shoots. Is this a continuing pattern, that it adds on 1 extra shoot each time? Or is this just a coincidence and it will shoot up whatever amount it feels like? Anyone had this happen or got any information? Thanks in advance Ed
As the plant rapidly gains strength, you will probably see an increasing number of shoots each time. It doesn't have to be by increments of one though. For a clumping bamboo, eventually the # of shoots at a time will level out & affected by plant health, climate variability, fertilizing, etc.
Thanks smivies...I thought it was too much of a coincidence to increase by 1 shoot everytime, thanks again for the verification... Ed
