    Can this lotus survive in the wet cold weather of Vancouver? Can it be planted in a container in the pond, or do you have to build a bog?

    Sacred Water Lily, Lotus Nelumbo Nucifera:
    * Very high moisture requirements; suitable for bogs and water gardens
    * Plant hardiness zone 5 and above (Vancouver is zone 8, so the plant should be fine)
    * Bloom time late Spring/early Summer to mid Summer
    * Sun to partial shade

    * Plant roots horizontally in a 1 1/2 foot container, 4 inches below the soil surface. Submerge the container 8 to 12 inches under the water surface. In areas where a freeze is possible, a deeper pond, or pond covering, will be required
