The first two pics (same plant) remind me of a poppy. Perhaps a meconopsis?
The leaves of second plant (with the red flower) look somewhat iris-like.
The third is a bush outside a condo building.
The last plant (two pics) is actually in a neighbour's yard.

    Apologies on the picture quality.

    Any help appreciated.

Poppies and poppyworts have the lantern-like capsule already present in the center of the flower at bloom time. As we can see in the photo, scabious produces a head of multiple small flowers with a cushion-like appearance.

Thanks, people. (I'd say "guys" (I assume from your noms-de-plume), but I live in the heart of Political Correctness.)
