Neighbor has unknown maple

    Live in Mapleton, Illinois, zone 5
    I had been admiring a neighbor's tree from afar (just moved, new neighborhood) because of its beautiful sculptural quality. I finally met the neighbor and got a close up and was surprised to see it was a maple. I am not sure which one; as you can see from the picture the samara's are distinctive and I'm sure someone will know what it is. Thank you for identifying it:)

    Yes, almost certainly A. tartaricum ssp ginalla (some still prefer A. ginalla), common name Amur Maple. There are several cultivars.
