I bought this plant a few years ago at Food World. It seems to be doing okay and is producing new leaves, but the tips of the leaves are turning brown. Not sure the name or how to make sure it is getting the nutrients that it needs.

I hope this is how I attach my pictures of the plant. Need to know the name of the plant to better take care of it.

    Thank you!

Looks like Phoenix roebelenii, Pygmy Date Palm.

Thanks Jungle keeper. This plant has never bloomed or produced fruit and the trunk doesn't look like a Pygmy Date Palm? I wonder though if it is and it just hasn't bloomed or produced fruit because it is grown indoors? The pictures I see on the web are those of mature plants and mine is small, but the trunks differ?
Thanks, I'll read more on the Pygmy Date Palm in the morning when my eyes are not crossed.

I think junglekeeper's got it right no doubt it's a Phoenix palm and by the soft feathery frond it looks like a very young P. roebelinii, not near mature enough to flower. They are very slow growers, just guessing but yours would be 4-5 year old seedlings, if grown in good (not prime) conditions. It will be a few more years before a trunk really develops on them.

Thank you so much. I've got to read up on this plant to determine why the leaf tips are turning brown and to get it growing healthy.

Personally, I found this plant difficult to keep looking good indoors. I hope you have better luck:)

The brown tips could be a sign of insufficient humidity.

Your right Junglekeeper. I haven't been doing a good job with the humidity levels, I'll work on that and give it lots of TLC. It's doing well in it's new location, I have to move it in the winter because of our fireplace, but I found a new location by our front windows.
Thanks to everyone for the help, I appericate it.
