Recently lost both parents within 6 weeks of each other so now have an abundance of houseplants. Don't want to lose them also. Need some help on how to care for the "Prayer Plant" it doesn't seem to like me much. My mother had not only a green thumb but a whole green body and everything grew and grew for her. Trying to fill unfillable shoes. HELP!!

I'm guessing that you've got a Maranta. They are fairly hardy plants related to ginger, and so long as you give it indirect sunlight, water it when the soil is dry to 2cm down it will be fine!

Thanks-the floral shop told me what it is but didn't give me any care guides.

Do not subject it to direct sunlight. This will scorch the leaf tips and fade the coloring. They like fairly moist soil, make sure you never let the soil dry out completely and if it's really dry where you are, stand it in a tray filled with pebbles and water and/or spray mist it daily.

    Best of luck!

Thanks wild-rose-it is very dry here where we live I had moved it out of any direct sunlight but it really hasn't bounced back yet. I am thinking about putting it in the bathroom on a ledge by the shower, what do you think?
    Thanks

That will probably make it very very happy.

Sounds ideal, I'm assuming your bathroom has a window for proper lighting?
