    Marn,
I think the ratty #2 bush (needs shaping) is a Snowball. The leaves look about right and the clusters of flowers, smaller than a hydrangea are greenish and open to white. Take a look at the pics on the net under 'snowball'. It's a viburnum in the Honeysuckle family.

Could try Viburnum opulus 'Roseum' for #2 snowball.

I have mine hedged as it is along a path. Height is about 6 ft. all the flowers are on top because of pruning. The one down the garden looks more like yours. I prune it out every couple of years and seems to get quiet large flowers.

Thanks ya guys for the ID's on the ones ya got .. ..the first one you ID's as the snowball bush (well tree in my case) does get beautifull fall colors .. i had seen it right near the end and it was beautifull ..
actually i remembered I had taken some pics of the backyard before we bought it .. and nope it dont look like that no more .. we have cleaned it up alot .. thats how the previous owners left it .. .. but you get the idea of the "tree" and then you can just see the lil tree in pic set #1 ..

so does the "possibly S. betulifolia" produce lil berries that the birds eat and drop all over ??.. does this explain why i have so many runners sprouting up in my yard ??.. lol..

    Thanks again guys ..
