I have an extensive calla collection (over 1,000). I recently moved to the Poconos in Pennsylvania where the growing season is extremely short, especially where calla's are concerned. After this past season I moved all my callas into my garage. The garage was not a good place to store them since the plants were wet from fall rains and the garage didn't allow them to dry at all. I moved them into my basement about a month later and they are now drying out nicely. Well, now it's been a month or two and I just looked at them and noticed that many of them are growing!! I don't know what to do. I dont' want to water them since it's only mid-March, but I don't want them die either. Will it hurt to not water them and watch them wither away (again)? It won't get warm enough at night to set them out for another 2 months. I've never had this problem before. And when i say they're growing I mean they are about 6-8 inches tall already! Help...
If I were in your shoes, I will water them, after all "they are growing", and I would not let them die of thirst. Just a thought .
