The picture of the plant i have attached is been nibbled by my cat, and so i wanted to research to make sure it wasn't poison...the best i could come up with was something that was poisonous. So if someone could please help varify or identify this for me I would be so greatful!
Could be Aglaonema "Silver Queen". Here's a link to a website that lists plants toxic to pets. If you're worried, I'd err on the side of caution. http://www.plantsciences.ucdavis.edu/ce/king/poisplant/tox-SCI.htm
Not to worry about the cat. Cats rarely nibble on toxic plants. The plants they do nibble on, they typically do so they can throw up fur balls anyway. It is Agalonema 'Silver Queen'.
I agree with Aglonema. I wouldn't be to worried about it, it probably didn't taste very nice and has probably detered it. I would be giving different advice if it was Dieffenbachia though... Ed
You could also spray it with bitter apple spray to keep kitty away. Some of my succulents are toxic & my cat likes to nibble the tips of the senecios...that's probably pretty mild but it doesn't do much for the plant (!) so bitter apple to the rescue. Keeps us all happy.
I've also found that putting mothballs on the soil of the plant will keep kitty out of it and from munching. My current cat is a plant-nibbler, and with mothballs she keeps her distance of the plants that could hurt her or that we don't want chewed.... That, and I grow a beet in a pot just for her nibbling pleasure. She seems to like it better than anything else we've tried, and at least it keeps her from eating the roses.
