    Hi Everyone

I've joined the forum as I'm interested in wildflowers but am stuck with a new specimen that has appeared in my UK garden. I have a small wildflower patch on clay soil. It contains mostly common wildflowers (Cornflower, Yarrow, Poppies, etc') but this summer an unusual plant has appeared and no-one seems to recognise it. Any clues gratefully received. It is about 50-60cms tall and started flowering in late June when I took the photo.

    Thanks
    GeoDave

Thanks Axel. I now believe it to be:

    Monarda citriodora Lamiaceae (Mint Family)

Common names: Lemon beebalm, Purple horsemint, Lemon mint, Plains horsemint, Lemon horsemint, Horsemint, Purple lemon mint
