A friend took a trip to the Mediterranean and returned with some photos. We've been able to figure out most of them, except these. Any ideas? Thanks!;)

Luddite, I suspected it was a Cotinus.. hm... thanks Lila - thanks!!! its hard to determine plants just by looking at photos (that is, if one is unexperienced)
