    Hello,

I need help identifying two things here please; the plant and the disease it is having.

My Dad bought this tree kind of indoor plant about 3 months ago. It was wearing very pretty looking light yellow color flowers and unfortunately I didn’t take any picture of them at that time. There was no tag on it so I have no idea what this plant is, if any one could help identifying its name, I would be better able to take care of it, thanks in advance.

After the blooms, the tiny stick bearing flowers on the tip of leaf-cluster branches fell off and happily enough new branches are growing from the junctions there.

Few days back I started noticing white clusters on the tree/plant at the point where previously might have been leaf(s) or branch(es) attached [ I hope I’m making perfect sense here]. And these clusters are occurring all over the tree basically, and I also have noticed a mushroom kind of thing grown in the pot as well today [It is a plastic pot and plant gets direct sun light only for few minutes in the morning otherwise the place it is at, is very bright].The white clusters appear as white dust or powder but on touch, they are actually tiny crystal kind of thing but very soft. I’m worrying that this plant might have got some disease. I would very appreciate if any one here can help me indentify it and guide me how may I help my plant to survive and stay healthy.

Thank you so very much in advance.

P.S. I wish I could provide must better pictures but my sister is out on vocation and she has my camera so I had to take picture using my stupid cell phone.

Hmmm, I can't tell really well but the plant looks like it might be a type of Euphorbia - that is a variety of cactus that has a fleshy stem and produces leaves on the ends of the 'branches'

Try this link for a picture of what I think you have :
    Euphorbia with yellow flowers

Most websites suggest that common pests are mealy bugs and scale. It's possible that yours have a case of scale.

    Hope this helps.

even tho the pics aren't too clear, i'd say it's mealy bugs. they usually have a white webbed presentation.

did a qtip in rubbing alcohol and rub it on the white puffs - they'll turn brown and the bugs will die.

as for the type of plant, i've never seen anything like that. cool looking plant!!

    @ Anne

As much as i appreciate your help, i looked at the site you provided and i think my plant doesnt belong to that family of plants =(
Its flowers are very different even thought leaf's shape does some what resemble to Euphorbia... Thanks though.
