I all of a sudden I have a new flower in my garden. It first popped up last year and now has spread to different parts of my yard. Could anyone identify this plant for me?

Crush the leaves and inhale the scent. I bet you'll be able to identify it (or at least what it is related to).

Daniel, thanks for the quick response. I just can't put my finger on the scent. At first I thought it was a pepper like smell but my wife said I was nuts. Any other hints?

Should smell like onions, I think. Post a photograph of the entire plant, if you can.

Here's the best I have of the whole plant. I would take more but it's kind of dark out now. After further smelling I think it is a onion like smell.

Wild garlic? I also have the same plant, and it did bloom in the spring I believe, with little yellow flowers with white centers, and slightly white tips. It did not bloom this year, but I got an additional 3 stalks with the curly-Q things on them. So it is garlic? And could it be used for cooking?

Definately garlic. Edible, too -- and will probably taste as good or better that dried ones from a store. They should be ready for harvesting right now, actually. I have some in the background of this photo (see link) from yesterday, you can see the seed heads popping up just behind the seedling pots at the edge of the deck. (I had been wondering about the plant in the foreground). Dig them up, rinse 'em, and you're set to go.
