    Hello everyone,

I am looking for advice on how to deal with some aggressive runners that keep popping up in my yard.

I believe the plant that is sending these out is some sort of wild rose (it gets fairly small pink flowers, is bushy, the stems are completely covered by fine 'hook like' thorns) I tried looking around on Google for a specific name but most of the websites I found lead me to believe it is a 'multiflora rosa' of some sort.

The bush itself is on the other side of my fence and I have been seeing these thorny runners popping up in my grass up to 10ft from the main plant! They grow quickly and are absolutely covered in nasty thorns that makes pulling them difficult.

I spent a lot of last summer diligently pulling them out from the ground (ripping up my grass in the process) but this year they are back in a big way. As the main plant is on common property I don't think I will be able to remove it entirely. Does anyone have a suggestion for dealing with these runners?

I will take a photo of the plant and the runners later today when I get home. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! (even if it is just to slow down their growth)

    Thank you!

    Brandon

Frequent mowing and acceptance of a long-term issue, or a physical barrier alongside the fence (similar to the ones used for containing running bamboos) followed by frequent mowing / pulling stems for a little while.
