This tree is growing at the edge of the woods in my yard. It has fragrant white blooms. It smell like honeysuckle, but I thought that was a vine.

I also have a strange bush growing at the edge of the woods. It has really pretty leaves and very sharp thorns. It gets red berries on it. My husband calls it a gooseberry but I do not think that is what it is. I have attached pictures of both.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!
