One of the trees in my yard has never had fruit on it and I always thought that it was a crab apple tree. This year small round fruit has appeared and it seems like they are plums. The fruit is only about 1 inch in diameter and are bright red and has a stone inside. The tree is only about 6 foot tall. I do have a purple plum close by. Could anyone tell me if this is a plum or not. We tried to eat some and it is sweet but I am careful not to eat something that I know nothing about. I will add pictures.
