I really need help, I have went online and read everything possible to save my palms. I have added pics for help. I planted them 3 weeks ago and 3 are small and one my be a medium plant. They are in direct sun for 12 hours a day. I live in Sunny Phoenix, Arizona. I love love love these plants and want to keep them, but the leaves are burning, I am watering them once a day in the early morning. I also gave the Vitamin B plant starter and palm fertizer (w/iron,zinc and magnesium) given to me as suggestions when I purchase the plants. Where am I going wrong, should I move them out of the sun? Am I watering too much. I want that to be my last option. mytruespirit
The blistering sun and heat of Phoenix is the culprit. Fertile soil and routine moisture are paramount for it's health which I'm sure you've discovered in your internet searches. In it's natural setting these would have some overhead protection by much taller vegetation even in the clearings. These will need a period of adjustment and you may lose some fronds in the process. Cheers, LPN.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I was considering planting a tree that would give the front of my home some shade so the palms some protection from the sun. Do you have any suggestions what would be good tree to plant in my yard that would fit the landscaping with these palm trees and give lots of shade. I am new to arizona and still learning what plants will work in all this sun. mytruespirit
Spend some time to visit trusted reputable nurserymen in your area. Explain your situation and gain some local insite into what will be suitable. Get invovled in local garden societies as a way of connecting to these and other contacts. This will enhance your knowledge and increase your interest too. Cheers, LPN.
