First plant, seems to look like a monocot because of its parralel vein structure on the leaves. Not sure exactly what it could be, let me know if you find out please... I believe it prefers direct sunlight but I could be incorrect. Some information for caring for this little guy would be useful, thank you for your time!
The second plant is a more woody dicot. It seems to have new leaves growing on the upper part of the plant. We just purchased this plant and we are curious of its name and where about its native soil might be found. Also caring directions would be a great help, thank you.
The First plant could probly be Chamaedorea elegans? I was just searching online for indoor palms, and that one looked very similar. Do you have any idea on the second plant?
The leaves on the second plant look like those of a houseplant sold as Canella winterana, Wild Cinnamon. However the few photos on the web cannot confirm this. The tree in the thread Identification: - Please Help!! | UBC Botanical Garden Forums looks much like yours.
Correction: The tree thought to be Canella is more likely to be Cinnamomum kotoense, Canela. See the thread Identification: - Tag said Canela | UBC Botanical Garden Forums.
Not sure about the tree in the (second photo) but, Chamaedorea elegans aka parlor palms do well with bright indirect light. Direct sun can burn the leaves. They also like semi moist soil.
