Have found a type of tree in Puerto Rico that is probably imported. It has a trunk that appears to have little or no bark and the wood is multi-hued, almost a camoflage pattern or red, gray, green and brown. This tree is definately planted at the locations I have seen it, not naturally occuring.

I have asked and been told it is called "El Calito (sp?)" and that the leaves are a type of astringent, used to lower fevers, etc.

If anyone can help to identify this tree, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks!
