Identification: Need help identifying this

    Found 2 of these in back yard. I broke one off and it is hollow inside. Have never seen anything like it growing out of the ground. Thank you for any help.

    Very likely Mutinus caninus, the dog stinkhorn (link goes to Tom Volk's Fungus of the Month for Oct 2006). If not that, a similar stinkhorn - it's a bit difficult to discern details in the photographs.
