I saw this tree at the Legoland Park, California. bark whole tree The leaves on the ground confirmed that it's real and not a prop. It was planted in a dinosaur themed area of the park, so I was thinking maybe it was one of those living fossils.
Ceiba sp.? (It's a tree with stout, vicious-looking, conical thorns on the bark. Leaves are stalked and palmate.)
Don't know what the heck the first photo is, but the second is a Bombax tree. The tree, because of its green trunk appears to be the variety "ellipticum". IF it has deciduous leaves and they are in groups of five leaflets, and the flowers are purplish with long ,red stamens tipped with gold, then it is the Ellipticum or 'shaving brush tree'.
