I am having problems with this large bush this year and the last. It doesn't look healthy and is losing it's leaves way too early (it's late May).

It starts the year healthy and then the leaves start falling (and looking unhealthy).

The first step is to figure out what it is. If anyone can help identify (or diagnose), I would greatly appreciate.

    Hello 2031pratt,

I don't know what the plant is, but wanted to let you know that only one of the images is visible and it is a general image. You might need to fix the image postings or add a closer view. You can also upload your images to your post. This is preferable anyway, because it makes viewing easier.

Here is a link to the Attaching Images "How To".

Looks to be a flowering crabapple (Malus) with apple scab. Since it consists of a clump of low stems it may be rootstock sprouts left from a failed grafted tree, or it may be a spontaneous seedling - either way probably not worth retaining and having to spray regularly in order to be kept presentable.

Thanks for the information...however, can you see in the pictures that the bush is some 20 feet tall? I think it's been there for many years, if not decades.

How difficult is apple scab to treat?

    Thanks in advance!
