Hello, My husband and I just moved into our new home in Woodburn, Oregon and our backyard is overrun with this plant. I dug one up and its a bulb plant... finally got it out after digging and digging and digging. It looks like a plant that means business and wants to stay... I'd like to have a say in it as well. If anyone can help me get the name of this plant and any ideas on how to 'co-exist?' with them, please let me know. Heres a picture or two: Not sure if the last link is accessible by everyone... sorry, not too graphic savvy.
Arum italicum looks like some leaves show the mottled variegation similar to the variety 'Pictum' here in the UK
Could be a Trilliumof some sort, not sure what cultivar. What is the flower like? The leaves in the background are a different plant, yes?
The leaf pattern doesn't really fit Trillium. Arum italicum can be invasive and is also poisonous. Here's a site for reference: http://www.weeds.crc.org.au/potentialweeds/potential_weeds_a.html#italian
