Hi, i just got 2 dwarf lime trees that i will be planting in the house. I live in Wisconsin so i will move them outdoors when its warm. They were shipped to me about a foot high. I am looking at putting them into a different pot and was wondering what size pot i should use and what kind of soil. I read that i should use 1/3 sand, 1/3 peat moss, and 1/3 sterile potting soil. If anyone one can give me any help at all that would be great. thanks for your time.

If you got them from a specific store that has an online web presence they will usually tell you on their site under the tab for your tree type what they prefer you to use for the plant. Saltcedar definitely has the dirt thing covered, I personally would take his/her advise.

If you have one of the little 2.5-3 inch pots with a 9 inch plant sticking out of it, most of the sellers recommend a 1 gallon pot as its next home. If the roots aren't touching the edge of your current pot in several places though, you might not want to re-pot just yet. If they are going in circles you definitely want that 1 gallon and want to gently disentangle the circles (don't hurt your plants if you can help it) when you do pot it.

Reminder, do not over-water it - just water when it is dry at an inch or so under the surface of the soil and let it set until it dries out again, adjust it to somewhere where it gets fairly good light for most of the day, and save your used coffee grounds and eggshells (sent through a blender or crushed up using some other technique) for it - they have good nutrients in them and if you were just going to pitch them anyways, you might as well use them. More dirt than coffee...too much of these good things can hurt them so don't overdo the coffee or eggshells.
