I have ordered a kit for an 8'x10' cedar-framed greenhouse. The roof glazing will be twinwall polycarbonate, the vertical walls plexiglass. I would like to leave the cedar natural, but have read recommendations to paint the inside of greenhouse framing white to enhance the light levels within the greenhouse. I live on Gabriola (west coast BC) where light levels can get pretty low. The site does not get sun all day but is the best I can manage. At this time of year, it is shaded from 3:15 pm on. That will improve as the sun gets higher. I am wanting to grow lettuce and kale and such over the winter as well as keep herbs going. I'll also be starting seedlings in it, of course. I am hoping to keep a minimum temperature of 10 Celsius. I would like to keep the wood natural, but if it would make a considerable difference in plant well-being, I am prepared to paint it white. I would be most grateful for advice. A.
