Need correct spelling of plant

    Hi!!

    I just purchased a Difenbacia and I wanted to do aome research on the web, but I can't without the correct spelling of the plant. Also, If anyone knows the common name for this plant too.

    Dieffenbachia, named after Austrian botanist J P Dieffenbach, 1790-1863.

    I think everyone just calls them Dieffenbachias!... but there is a "common" name = Dumb Cane.

    Dieffenbachias are great plants (I have 4) but keep in mind that their leaves and stems are poisonous. These contain calcium oxalate, which can cause temporary swelling and loss of speech---the "dumb" part of the common name. Watch out for kids and pets.
