Need advice on location & practicality of planting persimmon tree

I have an area that gets full sun all day
Alot of brick would surround it
The dirt area would be approximatley 3 feet wide and five feet length
The area it would be planted in is a sitting area.
A verandah is at the top height of the tree.

My question is... Is this a tree that i could prune to accomodate the verandah
And ensure the overhang is not in the way of the sitting area below.

It may require quite a bit of pruning
Bad idea?

I love the visual of a magnolia tree but love the idea of an edible tree
Also need something attractive as will see this from kitchen window
