    Hello All,
Years ago I had a houseplant commonly called a Pregnant Onion. I have not seen one in years. The base of the plant was like a shiny green onion the size of a tennis ball with stap like leaves that grew quite long. Occasionally a bump would form on the side of the green ball. As it grew larger, the skin would split and what looked sort of like a garlic clove would fall to the dirt and grow roots. It smelled rather like an onion also. Does anyone know the proper name for this odity.

Very good. Most people still call it Ornithogalum caudatum but Ornithogalum longibracteatum is the name it was given first and is the correct name.

I remember seeing an abandoned yard completely overrun with it in Anaheim, California. There were thousands of plant, many in full bloom.
