    http://kaiwo.notlong.com/ 2 June 2008 Nasturtium (Tropaeolum)

These plants self-seeded. There were three types in the bed last year so the flowers will be a bit of a surprise. They eventually spill over the raised bed, which was built when my yard was a swamp before I installed drainage ditches. The leaves are attractive, even without the flowers.

I've seen no sign of nasturtium volunteers in my yard yet, Durgan. Last year's plants produced plenty of seeds, some of which provided food for something (found some seed remnants in the area). Am currently soaking seed I saved indoors over winter so will have a few plants anyway.

  3. Debby - this evening I too am soaking some nasturtium that I purchased at Wal-Mart. Be interested to see how yours develop.

I'm fan of Nasturtium, this pictures are from last year, this year they are not blooming yet, the weather has been terrible in Illinois, rain and storms ...
    They are so nice !!!

Nice selection. Even without the flowers the vegetation is most attractive. It appears no bugs attack these plants.

Black aphids may appear on the leaves.
