I planted 2 nandinas about three weeks ago. Because of the hot weather, they are getting plenty of water every morning between 5+6AM. Now, leaves are falling off the plants. What is happening? lack/too much water? should I pick up the leaves off the mulch? Leaves don't look chewed . . .

Look at the rootballs to see if they are soggy. Nandina can certainly have other problems.

yes, I've been too generous with watering, root ball is soggy. Just for future reference though, what other nandina problems come to mind?
