I inherited this iris when I bought my house. Can anyone put a name to it?

    Thanks,

    Jim

Hi Jim, it looks like Iris germanica (bearded iris, German iris) to me. I wouldn't know the cultivar; there are so many types of iris. I grew up in Ohio and recall that we had two types of beared iris that had grown on our farm for many years. One looked like yours and the other was pure sky blue and fragrant.

We have this cultivar or an interchangeable one out here, too. I'd like to find out what it's called as well. Maybe it's an heirloom variety.
