The last time I posted a flower photo and asked for help with identification...you folks were so very helpful. Here's another...taken in Everett, WA. Help with the name please?
    Thanks!

Thanks a bunch! Did a further search and even found a lupine named "Abram's lupine." That's my son's name! I love it. Appreciate your quick response...and should anyone else see this thread and know the specific name...bring it on!

I don't know a North American cultivar name, but down here in Ecuador we call those or something very very similar "Chochos" and eat the seeds.

Note that not all lupins are edible, some are poisonous.

Good to know! Thanks, Michael. It's my friend in Washington state who has this lovely plant...and I was just helping her search for a name. I'm down here in the hot and humid southeastern U.S....and I have seen nary a Lupine anywhere around here. Thanks again and I'll tell my friend, just say no to eating "chocho seeds!"

It does one well to be cautious. We've only really got the one species of purple lupine down here, L. mutabilis, which is one of the three edible species.

Drive the freeway through your town to see numerous other examples currently in flower.
