I live in northern Maine...right next to the canadian border. I was out walking and I came across this vine...it has leaves shaped like maple leaves..but it only has three major points...the sides don't go into other points, and on this vine is this weird fruit. It's green as well (may not be ripe) and has almost the coloring of a watermellon that's not ripe...but it's small...I can compleatly close my fist around it, and oblong. It also has these spikes on it...they're individual and spaced apart, and they give when you touch them. I cut one open, it looked like white packing penuts, and it had 3 seeds in it that looked like green lima beans.

I've searched everywhere on the internet, and I can't seem to find ANYTHING that matches this. I was hoping someone here could solve this mystery for me. I hope to have pictures of it soon.

Sounds like a cucurbit of some sort. Search for [GOOGLE]wild cucumber[/GOOGLE], [GOOGLE]Marah[/GOOGLE], [GOOGLE]Echinocystis[/GOOGLE], [GOOGLE]Cucurbita[/GOOGLE] -- see if something like that resembles it.
