    I don't think that's quite it - the leaf is subtly but significantly different - , but I want to thank you for the response.

    It sure looks like Tetrapanax, even the way the leaf lobes double split. Are the leaves very soft and sort of fuzzy, with a lot of fuzz on the stems? On the other hand, the ones I've seen all have flower heads now.

    Ditto to Tetrapanax. The leaf shape is very variable between different cultivars.
