mystery tree smells of chocolate

    My daughter in Sooke has this small multi stemmed tree in her garden. It has small variegated leaves with tiny yellow fluffy things that I assume are the flowers. It smells of chocolate when these yellow bits come out. The tree is about 7 ft tall at the moment. See attached photos. mystery tree full.jpg

    I agree with Daniel,however, ours smells of Vanilla rather than chocolate!

    I think it smells like a particular brand of chocolate, but I could also see (smell?) why some say vanilla.

    Thank you both. This is exactly what she has. Mystery solved. Our local garden centre hadn't a clue.
