We recently moved into a new bungalow in Niagara-on-the-Lake Ontario. We are trying to find out the species of shrub shown in attached picyures. Can anyone help? Roy and Ava
Looks like an Acer palmatum. Possibly Acer p. atropurpureum or if it is grafted it may be one of the many named cultivars. Common name a purple leaved Japanese maple. http://images.google.co.uk/images?q...GB&redir_esc=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_palmatum The maple forum here at UBC is very active and you may find it very interesting and informative. http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=9
We thank you very much Silver Surfer. The power and knowledge available through the Internet never ceases to amaze me. Roy
