    Hello,
Any ideas? This sprouted up in three separate places in our SoCal garden. Didn't plant and have never seen such a plant.
    Thanks!

Ricinus communis, castor oil plant. Toxic, very toxic seeds.

Yikes! I will remove them ASAP as we have young children. How in the world did three separate plants seed on different ends of our half acre property?
    Wow. Thanks!

Possibly bird droppings. Some people use it as a biological control for moles -- perhaps one of your neighbours planted some last year for that use.
