Hi, I'm new to the forum so if my pictures don't post please anyone help me do this. I received this plant today and was told it was a water lilly but I searched the internet and could not find a water lilly that looked like this.

It's definitely not any water lily. If it occurred here, I'd assume it was a cattail, species Typha... although I don't know what similar-looking things may occur where you are.

Could it be a species of Narcissus?

I did some more research and I think it might be an Iris. The lady I got it from had another one in her pond so I searched water plants and found the Japanese Iris. But I'm still not sure.

If it is iris pseudocorus..be advised it's VERY invasive...best in containers.
