Can anyone identify this plant (weed?) for me? I found it today growing inside my beefsteak tomato container. A little background info - my back "yard" is just a large deck, so everything I'm growing is in containers. This particular tomato (where the mystery plant sprouted) is a large half-barrel. The potting soil was 100% new this year. So I figure whatever this thing is, it was either from a seed already in the potting soil, or it blew over from somewhere. Anyway normally a simple weed would not interest me so much, but I've never seen one like this, plus it seems to be growing little round "fruits". And also the way the blossoms dangle remind me a lot of my pepper plants (but not quite). So what is this thing??? I haven't pulled it yet because it interests me. I'm sure I'll find out it's just some common boring weed though.... Thanks!
Some sort of Solanum, not sure which. Here's the link made clickable: http://static.flickr.com/46/170691577_905ef6d2aa_b.jpg
Solanum, possibly Solanum americanum? Heres a list with photos for some from CalFlora. I see Michael beat me to it. Harry
