I need help identifying this unusual plant blooming currently in the forest very close to my place.
The flowers are similar to those of Lilac in colour and size, but arranged along the stem, kind of like in Forsythia, not in panicles like in Lilacs. The leaves just started to develop. Like Forsythia, it is a very early bloomer, much earlier than Lilacs, the area was covered with snow there just a few weeks ago.
The plant looks to me kind of like a cross between Forsythia and Lilac, what of course is not possible. So what is it?

    Daphne mezereum, not native. Poisonous.

Thank you very much chimera. Now another mystery is: how it could get there? I have never seen it growing anywhere here.

Seeds spread by birds eating the fruit.
