Mystery berry in New York, USA...

    There are some mystery berries in my backyard (Bethel, NY, USA) growing wild next to the blueberries. They bear some resemblance to the blueberry bushes, superficially, but the berry itself is quite different inside. I couldn't make a positive identification, though they seem to bear some resemblance to huckleberries. Does anyone have any idea what it is? An identification of it would be greatly appreciated! :D

    The fruit and plant look like Huckleberries (genus Gaylussacia), which should have 10 seeds, if that's what they are.

    That's assuming all 10 seed embryos develop - poor pollination could result in fewer seeds.
