I am hoping someone can help me identify this plant that I have had growing on a sloped rock garden for 4 or 5 years. It dies back to the ground every year and has round flowers the same colour as the leaves (you can see a couple starting in the bottom right corner of the picture. My friends have had trouble transplanting it but it does great on my steep slope in full sun.

It's not unlike Eryngium maritimum, which is a beach plant!

I have looked at some pics and descriptions of Eryngium maritimum and I think that this is it. I have several other eryngium varieties (that I love)and can now give this one a name.

Any ideas for successful division ?

thanks for your help Todd and Eric
