I discovered this mysterious red/green plant in my horses’ pasture this morning and I’m curious to find out what it is.
I walk the pastures often pulling weeds and looking for hazards and I have never in 6 years of doing so ever seen this plant.
They are growing in a single, small patch in full sun, are about 5-6” tall and only one to three stems grow from each root system.
Located near the coast on south Vancouver Island.

    Any scent on crushed foliage?

No. There is no scent to it at all.
