I reside in Ottawa ON. A few years ago I noticed one or two of these plants in my lawn; now there are more and they emerge single and in groups. They are not woody and when the lawn mower cuts them off they continue to grow. They come up wherever and do as well in the garden as the lawn. I really do not want a lawn full of these ... can anyone help me identify them? Suggestions for ridding my lawn of them would also be most welcome.

Many thanks for any and all assistance ... Veronica

Probably Epipactis helleborine - an introduced orchid species.
