I had this beautiful umbrella tree but my husband overwatered it. I repotted it at the end of January and it was drowning. However, a friend came by and said that the leaves look like they got too cold. I moved the tree but it has declined rapidly. Anything I can do to save it? Help is much appreciated.
Welcome, JMA. For starters, you could take it out of the pot and remove the soil to see if there are still any roots that are not mushy, or any roots at all. What's happening at the bottom - is there anything that seems alive there? If there are good-looking roots, check the branches. If you cut off the dangling leaves, is there green tissue inside the stems? If there are roots and still living stems, you could pot it back up, remove the dead stuff, and wait to see if it figures out how to get itself going again.
I'm sure for the best. You can put your energies into a nice new plant. Thanks for getting back to us.
