Hello, My tulips were planted in too much shade for a number of years. I dug them up in the autumn and replanted them where they would get sun.
However when the tulips blossom they have all gone red. The bulbs are planted very close together. I did not buy any red tulips.
Why are the tulips red now?

It is not unheard of for tulips flowers to change colour over time. This may be the result of environmental problems, health issues or age.

at least the deer didn't nip them off as they were about to bloom!
    they look nice.

i have many old volunteer tulips - which aren't my color favorite but they are vigorous

so I put my fav colors / shapes in pots and enjoy them that way - then off they go to compost each year

I'm curious if they don't keep on growing, even in the compost . . . or is yours too hot?
