Hi This is my first post. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to why my Salvia Guaranitica, "Black and Blue", which I would love to see flourish, refuses to do so despite being in full sun, what should be it's ideal soil type, and moderate water. It grows a few tall stalks to about 4 feet but in 3 years has never bloomed. I've tried both fertilizing it one year and not fertilizing another year - no difference.

Well, it certainly won't help to hear that the ones blooming at the entrance to the garden don't have too much difficulty with flowers every year. I haven't been able to find an answer as to why you're running into trouble, maybe someone else will pipe up.

    Thanks, Daniel
The only thing I can think of is that is it perhaps on the dry side of it's preferred habitat. I had one in my garden in Vancouver in a very wet spot that did bloom reliably, but in my Victoria garden it only gets moderate or less water. The foliage seems fairly healthy, and it gets full sun, so I'm stumped as to why it doesn't even make a feable attempt to bloom.
