Can someone please help me! I don't know anything about plants. But, I purchased a pony tail plant about 2 years ago and now I've fallen in love with it. One of my students knocked it on the floor. It had 4 branches (I guess thats what they are) but one fell off and another one is split a little. I just wanted to know if there is anything that I can do for the one that is split and will the other one grow back (it's still green). Please help me! I want to save my plant. Thanks for any responses :-(

For the one that split, you could try and wrap it for a few months and see if it 'takes', but you might also consider allowing both cut sides to dry and have a two-trunked branch (unless it does look really awful). The one that fell off ... not much you can do at this point I imagine. I'll tell you something which is just for interest's sake - it's considered unnattractive to have a tree with an even number of branches in bonsai (which I realize you may have no interest in pursuing) because the 'tension' effect is lost - in other words an uneven number can impart a feeling of expectancy (for a new branch), while even numbers feel static... too anchored. Just a little trivia!
