I purchased an indoor palm at Walmart in April. I cannot remember the name but it was a low maintenance palm that didn't require much sun and only needed water once a week. Well in June I noticed these shoots growing up from the middle of the tree. I originally thought they were new leaves, but here it is August and the shoots are about four feet long but they still have not sprouted leaves and the current leaves have not turned brown yet. Is it alright if I cut these shoots?

    why?
it must be a clumping palm...
it's growing another palm next to it...
